installing 5.25" speakers?

I'm thinking about gettin some Alpine Type-R components but was wondering how would I fit the speaker, since our cars come stock w/ 6.5"? I'm the the 5.25" b/c I don't think the 6.5" will fit since the speaker is so bulky. Any info on how to customise these to fit would be appreciated. Sorry if this is a dumb question, I don't knw jack about audio.

Thanks,
Steve

6.5's will fit..but as with any bulky speaker with deep mounting depth a 1: Spacer is reccomended..and you also have to shave the plastic speaker ring built into the door panel for proper fit..

I have 6.5's up front. I think bigger ones might fit too. It's just a matter of mounting depth and the proper speaker spacer. I used a Scosche SS65 universal speaker spacer. Worked like a charm.
