please help with amp problem

ok i have a fosgate 500.2 amp running a 12 inch JL W3 D4...the problem is when i tap the amp like knock it or shake it a little the bass stops hitting but the power and everything is fine...nothing is wrong...and you know when the music plays and bass hits it vibrates right so when it vibrates too much the bass cuts off and when it cuts off and starts to bump again it stops when it vibrates so i'm getting very choppy bass hits...so i'm assuming its the amp problem because when i tap the amp and shake it a little it stops the bass...when i play the music lower like not bump it as hard it doesn't cut off only cuts off when i play it high like when the bass vibrates really hard...its weird...had the amp and subs for like 8 months or so and never had a problem until just recently out of no where a problem like this comes up...i'm in the processing in figuring it out but can't so i need your help thanks in advance....
