Amps with "Bass boost" function?

Amps with "Bass boost" function?
Is the bass boost feature important for an amp used to power a sub? I'm shopping around for an amp, and have come across mono subwoofer amps and some 2-channel amps that feature bass boost. Supposed to boost low end frequencies for better bass.
Some of the 2-channel amps that I am shopping do not have this feature (e.g. US Acoustics) while other brands do? Since I plan to use this amp in bridged mode to power the amp, is it necessary that I find an amp with bass boost?
