HU installation complete!
Well, after three months of talking about it, one month of shopping around for it, and 2 weeks of putting it off (sort of), I finally installed a Pioneer DEH-P4400 head unit in the sedan. It took about an hour, but I was going very slowly...for fear I would break something! But, as many of you have mentioned, with the right kit and wiring harness and a little planning, it was actually pretty easy.
Thanks to everyone whose postings were of so much help to me. You guys rock.

Well, I guess I should have listened to all the posts about not being to see the displays during the day...it was making me nuts! I finally took the 4400 out and replaced it with the 6400. Still washes out a little in direct sun, but overall it's MUCH better. I didn't look at this deck closely enough when I was shopping -- I thought it and the 4400 were the same deck except for the organic display, but the 6400 actually has a lot of features that the 4400 doesn't. I love it
You said the OEL display gets washed out in the sunlight, can you still read it though? I had a Pioneer (non-OEL) in my 6th gen, and although I loved the deck I couldn't see it worth crap during the day.
my friend got the 7400 - mp3 playback, it's cool, and a great display.
i was gonna get that, but i got a kenwood instead cause the red display/buttons matches my inteior

Yes, it is pretty readable, even in nearly-direct sunlight. The 4400's display was hampered by the viewing angle as well as its lack of brightness - if the volume was not turned up, I would have sworn the thing was turned off! It was a good unit performance-wise, as is the 6400; I'm glad I spent the extra money...now I need to order a steering wheel remote for it!
