Back seat amp install, need ideas
Im going to install my amp into the backside of my back seats. I want to basically cut a hole where the metal is on the back, then create a type of box that will fit in there flush, about 3" deep...then put a piece of plexi-glass with the PPI logo cut out on top of that.
After thats done put all of it back together, and cut a hole in the fabric on the backside of the seat so you can see through to the amp.
Im wondering if anyone has done or seen a install like this and could help me out on some do's and dont's of it. My amp is 17" long by 10" wide bye 3" high.

Well, one don't comes to my mind...heat. You need to come up with a way to vent the boxes or better heatsink your amps (e.g. mount them on some metal). Depending on how much power you run, and how much you drive your amps, that little compartment could turn into an oven. You'd probably experience alot of cutouts as the amp turns off from overheating, or worse, you could possibly burn it out.
I'd look into some 12v computer fans for air circualtion. You could cut some type of tube into the seat with the fan inside bringing in cool air, but I can imagine that to be a logistical nightmare.
