'nuff midbass?

okay, if i put a single 10" sealed half-decent sub in a sealed box will there be enough midbass while running the factory speakers in conjunction with the sub?

I haven't had any experience running a 10" sub not on low pass to act as a midbass. You're best bet is to sink the money for and amp in sub into a set of good components and an amp. The stock speakers are garbage and the sub will drown them out, for the best sound I would get some components. JL's, Focals, or Perfects for good solid midbass.

well if your running stock speakers you have all mid bass and adding sub is just going to give you low end bass . I cant say I recomend running your sub anything but low pass because vocals are not good for the sub . but I would have to say the best stereo for a budget would be a decent set of componets in the front keep the stock speakers in the back and get a 10 sub of good quality and then crank that mother up

10 is basically all midbass. youll have to search long and hard for a 10 that will go lower than 40 Hz sealed easily.

you should be fine, your fronts should have enough midbass to cover the distance to a 10.

I have one JL 8w3 in a sealed box and I had it crossed over at 120 hz, it sounded fine, but the problem that i found was that the sound became more and more directional. I have it at 80 hz normally, and it seems like i can already feel that it's coming from behind, and with most my fade in front, i wantd to keep the stage in front. Maybe two of those JP 6w0 6.5" subs would be better in some kicks in front

ppl say that bass is nondirectional. dont believe it.

experienced it first hand at my buddies house. b i g a s s HT system, with the sub over at the rigtht side of the room, instead of behind the TV. anytime tehre was an explosion during a movie, i dont care how deep it was, it came from teh right side of the room.

sure it was loud. sure the TV was big. I could have done beter for cheaper. anyone here could have.

Yeah, i think Bass is directional, not specally the sound, but the feeling. They should just say it's "less directional"

Is there anyway to make the subs ina trunk sounds like they're more infront of you?

my ported tempest filled teh air with bass. wasnt a "hit" coming from behind. It was as if the very air around you was "saturated" with bass. A very comfortable feeling, especially at 140 dB =D

that is the only thing I have personally experiences that comes close to not hearing your bass coming form the trunk.....

yeah, i agree with bass no always being non-directional. but anyway, i'm planning to keep my HU; therefore, if i were to get components in the front door will the SQ be okay with line level imputs on the amp? i wanna keep the oem look with the stock HU.

I would be wary. I want to test a civic deck, but havent yet, so everything I am about to say concerns a stock mustang deck. The midbass frequencies (80 Hz to 1XX or 2XX) clipped at low power levels. rediculous. very easy to clip.

unfortunately, I would have to say that I too suggest looking into a deck. However, make it the last thing you get in this current little list, cause what happens if you hook it all up and it sounds great? thats $200 in your pocket.

so get all your bass equip first, and after its all done, if it sounds bad (bad as in dirty signal), look into the deck. Till then, dont worry abotu it too much, just keep it in the back of your mind.

i have a blaupunkt HU, but i really don't wish to install it. i want that OEM look with the existing HU plus i'd like to sell the blau to get some money (prob. not much).

Acoustically Bass below 60Hz is non-directional bass up to 70Hz is almost unsensible by humans...However the physicall feeling of bass is. ..Like Whiterabbit said about the HT setup.. He could feel the impact of bass on his right side and clearly tell where it was coming from. Because by the time the Bass crossed the room and reflected to hit left side it lost most of it's pressure by being absorbed by objects..such as walls, people..couch.....
