whats going on. i want to replace my factory speakers... i was wondering if neone had suggestions on what type of speakers i should go with that would sound good with punk, emo, n rock music... dont really rock the rap. also i was wondering what id have to do to install them, like would i need spacers or nething... or have to put new trunk springs in the back or actually have to take the back seat out to replace the 6x9s... should i go wit the same type of speakers in the front n back or doesnt it matter much. ne suggestions r really appreciated! thanks

This should be in ICE, but yes you do have to take out the rear seat, and all the rear paneling to change the 6x9's out(I just did it today). I would recommend Infinity Kappa components, but that's just me. Everyone has their own opinions.

I went with Kenwoods, but the Kappa's are awesome. I had the backs done by a pro, it was too much of a pain in the butt when we did it on my buddy's car. the fronts I did myself. I just had to drill holes for the screws that hold the speakers in. As you'll be able to tell when you remove the factory speakers, you really can't put anything else in there without drilling holes. Have fun.

Yeah the stock system is pretty nice, mine is all pioneer...I say just save the money of replacing all your stock speakers and buy yourself some 12's and an amp, go with a Rockford Fosgate system.

it would have to be a pretty damn good speaker to make emo or punk sound good >=p

edit: now that I have actually given serious (accidental) thought about this, make sure you get a smooth tweeter, like that on teh JL XR set. you definitely dont want a harsh tweet like on infinity component sets, since rock will hurt your ears, the cymbals will be loud and scratchy, and emo and punk singers whiny b i t c h voices will hurt your soul and heart cause it will sound all loud and scratchy.....

so smooth tweet would be the way id go.

I have one kicker solobaric 10" square sub, in a sealed box in my trunk.....and it slams dude, it hits harder and sounds better than the 3 10's i had in there before, and sounds like theres at least 2 12's in the back....... i dont know.... maybe u had problems with some of there other products..........but i would definatley would recommend that speaker

The JLs yes.. Alpines..no..the tweeters lack much detail and suffer some breakup....

The JL's are a ver awesome component set, For punk and such something with a smooth tweeter is a good choice..let us know what you want to spend an we'll find ya something great..

For your moneys worth I would go with Boston Acoustics. They aren't cheap but they sound extremely good. And yes I would keep your factory speaker sizes and just upgrade the quality of the speaker. After, you've done that for your 6x9s and 6 1/2's try to get a 4 channel amp for those puppies. Four channel amps run alot more efficiently than a 2-channel amp ran in parallel, plus when you run your speakers in parallel you lose some of your fading capabilities.
