GOT MY SYSTEM DONE!!!
Here are some pics of my system.
The first is the switches to turn my amps on and off, and the alarm led.
The second is the picture of my box from the inside of the car. The openings on the sides of the box are vents.
The third picture is of the trunk setup. There are four plexi windows. One for each chamber, and one showing the inside of each port.
The final picture is the inside of of the chamber. It is finshed with a white texture.
The whole system is wrapped in a black vinal. The amps are kx600.1's This setup is ungodly loud. I need to get another battery because the lights dimming is extemely noticable. Hope you enjoy. Sorry the pictures are not in the order I described.

Another battery won't solve anything. It will just compound the problem. A H/O alternator is the only tru solution if you want to crank it all day long while running big class a/b amps.. A Cap will help control dimming, however it won't make up for any power that your charging system cannot produce. I'd reccomend gettign a voltage meter and seeing how low the oltage goes when you turn it up loud...

The subs have the remote gain so I can adjust the level from the front seat to match the volume of the stock speakers. I dont really need to keep them down very much because the stock speakers do a very good job. I am actually impressed with them. Also I do not have the side-walls done yet, so I could put the amp in one of them.

Micro..just a bit of 411.. the OE speakers are junk. They cost $12 a piece US. they can handle 20WRMS. They offer little or no midbass whatsoever.. they have about the dirtiest frequency response yuo can imagine..the midrange is muffled and very sloppy. At least replace them with bottom end Pioneers..they like very little power and actually sound half decent.

No offense man but you are the one running sony. Nuthing wrong with it just doesn't give you a whole lot of room to talk. As for the system, if i were u I would run a single farad cap on each amp. That should cure your problem. If not a new alternator will be needed.

jwc.. no offense? uhh.. i'll take that as lightly as i possibly can.
now then.. listen up newbie.. stick around long enough and you might learn something.
just because i prefer to have one sony sub in my car.. does not mean anything about what i know about sound quality or anything else. most people around here would agree that bass is NOT music, so why would you upgrade your system by just adding a crapload of subs? how is that any better, ebsides the fact that you can set off alarms? it's just like the people who actually like the sound of their farty exhausts.
like seriously now.. where do you people learns this stuff? i seriously suspect that you people are overly influenced by movies like the fast and the furious. your hearing must be well.. almost non-esitent and you definitely never heard of sound quality. it's all great to have a nice set of subs in your car, but what's it worth when your highs and mids are distorted so badly that your teeny bopper cd's all end up sounding like the muffled screams of a dying youth?
i have worked on thousands of dollars worth of equiptment and worked with many different cars makes and models. i'm pretty certain that i've heard some great systems and i can tell the difference between a great one and a horrible one.. most horrible ones consist of a teenager with two subs and a stock deck combined with stock speakers. it's one thing to know that you have a horrible system.. it's another to try and play it off as if it's a 'gift from god'.
i'm not pointing my finger at anyone, but i'm just putting it out there. i've never said my system was worthy of awards. i do however, insist that people know who they are talking to and what they are talking about.

I know many of you will disagree with me on this one...but I heard one awesome system a few weeks ago built by a friend of mine just to prove that stock speakers can sound good....now just a disclamer this guy can install like nobody busniess, and has worked on many a show car, even a couple featured in Car Audio mag....so anyways the system consised of 1 pair of stock 5x7 JBL speakers from a Ford explorer one SoundStream Granite 10....an oldskool alpine CD headunit....A PPI indash EQ and a 4 channel Earthquake amp.......now after tweaking the crossover and EQ the front factory Ford 5x7 coaxial made beautiful highs, clear and crisp midrange/midbass....now I know everything else was not stock but this system sounded awesome.....and I didnt think it could be done myself with speakers that everyone changes and throws out.......go figure
This message is more directed at JCW013 who seems to think if it didnt cost thousands of dollars it aint worth nothin, well I"m telling ya youre very wrong.....Install plays a huge part in the final outcome of how your system will sound...........So stick around and figure out who knows their stuff around here before you start running your mouth.....and if you cant back up what you say with facts keep it shut

I don't understand why you guys are giving him a hard time about his system, specifically the OEM stuff that he said "is OK for now." He obviously plans to upgrade in the future so just lay off. His install is off to a very nice start and I'm willing to bet it's much nicer than what any of you have.
Good job microdot - keep it coming.

Swifty..some EOM speakers are not bad at all..the one's in our civics are.. Ford and GM cars have equalized sound systems and sound pretty dang good. JBL for ford taes a vehicle. analyzes it runnign sine waves through it to find peaks and holes..and speaker weak points..and equalizes this in the HU output to compensate..theya re pretty balanced systems.. Honda..civics.. $4 speakers, and an overpriced HU with good AM recepton..Slight difference.... Not to give Micro a hard time..but a wicked sweet install like that, and OEM speakers..well in tiem I'm sure he'll hae one of the sweetest voerall systems on this site..

Mohawk....I'm not endorsing or putting down factory speakers, i'm just putting it out there that it is possible to have a nice sounding system on a low budget.....I do agree that Micro should upgrade his factory setup, and he does have one wicked looking install......we are more on JCW's case for thinking it is impossible to make a good sounding system with budget priced parts
hey microdot can you pm me about how much an install like that would cost. I am eager to be the first of my friends to get a customized trunk just need to find the right trustworthy place to do it.. thanks

Just one question about the second picture .....the one inside your car.....with all this money spent on an installtion why did you not get some trim panels made to finish off the front of the enclosure, so when you drop the seat to show off the subs it looks complete not like a normal 6 sided box?.....other than that looks good

About the pic of the inside of my car. What appears to be space on each side of the box going into the car is actually ports. You could see it better if I took another picture. The two outside plexiglass windows in the picture of the trunk show the insides of these ports going into the car.
I personally think that it is an excellent install. I would venture to say probably quite a bit better than most of us have...so all you nay-sayers out there...leave the guy alone.
I have been doing car audio for 14years. I competed in IASCA events for 2 years and ran in the 500+ Novice class. I did manage to sqeak out a 3rd place ONCE! These guys who think that you have to buy the most expensive subs/amps/ etc to get the best sound are simply buying into a name brand. 10 years ago if you showed up with a Panasonic HU in your ride you would have got laughed off the block...now Panasonic is one of the leading HU manufacturers. The only difference between now and then is the price. The quality has gotten better but the parts are cheaper now than ever..its the markup that is getting bigger. My step-dad just retired after 25 in the electronics industry...I have seen every price sheet you could imagine....the mark-up on ALL car audio is disgusting.
Its not the name on the product..its the installer....the enclosure....and the sound imaging that the owner/installer is trying to acheive. Hope nobody was offended by any of this....but it doesn't really matter what others think of your system as long as YOU are happy! later
Just for kicks I have attached a pic of a install I threw in my ZX-2. No its not clean in these pictures but this is sort of an example of "off brand" stuff sounding good. These are 4 10's with 100RMS to each..and I will put them up against ANY brand with same size/power input.
