FYI-Aux.input any Alpine CD-changer HU!!
It frustrated me to think I would have to buy a whole new deck to plug in an auxilary source. I read a soloution in a car.audio mag for Alpine decks (possibly other makes). Alpine makes an adapter cable that takes the Ai-Net cable that goes to the cd-changer that plugs into your deck then has two RCA cables on the other end. So what you do is buy the adapter plug in any audio source. DVD,PS2, MP3 player. whenever you want to listen to this source just go CD changer and there's your sound through the system. If you have a CD-changer you can also just just wire a switch and switch between the sources.
Just thought you guys would be interested.

i looked into this. it does not apply to the OEM head unit. Ai-Net is some optical connection. The place that told me that said they thought the 14-pin thing that comes on the stock stereo is an "MBus" but I'm pretty sure that's not right. If anyone has any information about this mystery 14 pin connection, I'd love to hear it.
yeah. it does that but this thread is to basically explore it's use in creating an aux-in.
does anyone have the in dash cd-changer, optional tape deck, or optional single cd player and know what the pin-outs are? (i.e. what is ground? what is left audio? what is right? what is power?) at least what color the wires are to connect them?

Actually, the conversion plug for the Ai-Net cable is just that. It turns the Ai-NET into RCA. The only other thing that Ai-Net does is control the unit too through the head unit.
IE.
Alpine CVA-1005 (HU)
Alpine ERA-G320 (EQ)
Alpine 6-disc changer
Ai-Net connection from CVA-1005 to 1005 brain. Ai-Net Connection from 1005 brain to ERA-G320. Ai-Net connection from 6-Disc changer to ERA-G320.
Basically the Ai-Net connection lets you controll you (EQ) and (6-Disc) changer though the 1005. If you went straight RCA, then each componet would have to be contolled individually.
IE, remote for changer to change disc and tracks; Use the remote face plate to controll the EQ; etc.
