sound cuts out

my buddy and I put a sony explode deck in his truck with pioneer speakers. He told me today that after it has been playing for a while the music starts to cut out. only after its been on for a while. A friend said it happened to someone he knew b/c the components were getting too hot, (wires and stuff i guess?). Can anyone back this up? and if so does anyone have a solution? thanx
