Yes. I have. That was easy.

Okay, seriously. I had to make custom trunk springs because the old ones didn't fit. Then I had to make custom trunk shocks because the trunk springs were too week. Check out www.burrite.com for some more pics. He modeled his after mine, but made some improvements. Notice his spoiler. His trunk is heavier. Anyway, it's possible. You can also just buy speakers that have the clearance, but why do the easy thing?

I bought speakers thinking they would fit because their depth was lower then the max, in the coupe that is. I got Kenwood Excelon 6x9s X698, the magnet was a little to big so I ended up hammering the springs so they will fit. The Sedan has a much deeper opening and will only take 6.5" speakers.

OH I hear you guys I removed the whole back of the car and took out those kmart quality speakers but I was dumb because the stock on the sedan is a 5/1/4 and I bought 5/1/4 but I didnt think of the white plastic around the dumb speakers so I had to fabricate the whole a little. I have Cadenance aluminium rear 5/1/4 aand they barly clear the springs cause they have 20 oz magnets on them but they sound damn good.

Does the coupe have 6*9's in it stock cause if it does that really stinks because I had a nice set of them

i had the fitament problem also. i bought the new pioneers (rev series i think). anyhow, they didnt fit, barely cleared the rear window in the coupe., and were about an inch and a half too deep. i swapped them for some alpines, which fit fine, and have great sound quality. so, i took my rear deck out twice to finally swap out the k-mart speakers. should've just left it out and waited until i got the new ones, but i didn't think about that until i had already put the seats back in. i must be stupid or sumthin.
