Custom Kick Panels...
Has anyone built custom kick panels/pods for the 01 civic to house your component speakers? The stock locations are crappy for sound imaging and soundstage. Anyone think that Q-Logic is going to make them for our cars?

some company is making kicks for our cars. the dont look like they will have good imaging. im curretly working on kicks but if they dont fit right since i have a stick. im going to get the qlogic ones and reinforce the heck out of them and change the way the speakers sit
I have MB Quart three way components in the front of my civ. And I have made my own kickpanels to house the midrange and tweeter. It takes a little time and a little creativity but if you just keep trying you can do it. I purchased an extra set of kickpanels from manchester hond and fabricated my own out of fiberglass on top of the factory ones so that I could just pop them into place when I was finished. I bought the extra ones in case I messed and so that I could return the car to stock. The factory ones only cost about $6-7. I also made the custom kickpanels to house these same speakers for my Saturn before my wife crashed it. But, if she wouldn't have crashed it I couldn't have purchased my Civ.

I bought the plastic trim panels that I'm referring to about a year ago so I'm not totally sure on the exact price. But, I do know that they were less than $10 ea. I figured that I should have a backup pair in case of a mistake. A precaution that I didn't take when making them for the Saturn. I didn't mess up on either vehicle. But, it gives you piece of mind anyways. Hope this is of some use. If you use fiberglass be prepared to make a mess. Just a forewarning, my friend and I make our speaker boxes and such out of the stuff so we have a little bit of experience. The more you use it the better you get.

I Had 3-ways components with the 4" mid sin kicks. If you drive stick that's about the biggest speaker you'll fit in there while retaining a good sound stage and image. while still being able to shift. You can go fit 6.5's buy the woofers would have to great off-axis response which very very few do to pull it off,,
