Help on HU...

I am a total newbie when it comes to sound equip... ok
I am looking at a Sony CDX-M630 for my HU. I like the look when it closes. and I only need a 1 disc. (I am planning on a 10 disc in the trunk)
Any comments on this HU? or any better suggestions?
I am looking for something that has a black face when off... and perferably has a blue background.( to match the rest of the lights inside)

I am also thinking about putting 2 10" JL audio subs in back.. what kind of amp would you recommend to run this setup?

Okay..scratch all your plans and rethink the whole thing .. Those black Display HU's don't deter thieves. Detachable faceplates do. Sony HU's for the most part are pretty crappy Untill you get to the ES line of HU's and even then..

The 4 main HU's on the market tha are worth the $$ are Alpine, Pioneer, Clarion, and Panasonic. If you wanna spend a little more. Eclipse, and Nakamichi come into the picture. ..

For subs. What model JL's.. what size.. are you getting JL's because heard their the bomb?.. there's many other subs out there with better features and sound for les $$ than JL subs.

Do you plan on upgrading your speakers (Please say yes).

I have a few relatively in expensive systems I had planned out for people. And I have a few medium cost..and anything above that. Don't pay for unless you actually know the difference between $$$ High end stuff and Expensive junk .

So get back to us all. We'll edumacate you a little and help ya make the right decisions and get the best products for you $$$...

Cheers

Basicly I have been told by friends and other people, JL audio subs sound the best... I went and listened to a couple at the local car sterieo shop, and I think I will get w3's... they sounded the best in my opinion.

As for HU.. what models of those brands would you recomend... I am looking for a mid range system, I want it to sound GOOD, but not like a synphony hall (sp)
As for wanting the black face, (its all for looks to match the rest of the plans on the inside of the car, not about robbery).. but I guess I'll see what is out there... after all sound is more important that looks in the long run.... I Always have music on, so I want a system that can put out a nice amount of base, but still have clear high end..... does that make any sense?
Typicaly I can tell if somethings sound quality is good or not.... (played in orcestras for about 11 years... but who knows I still might not be able to tell)

I am getting the Alpine 7995 Hu. Great sound, great looks, kind of expensive at local stores. I bought at Ike's online. Great price's on all goods. Only problem with my HU is you need an amp to run that specific model. There is another HU model a bit less. I believe is the next model down were you can connect the speakers directly to the HU instead of through the amp. I would highly recomend an Alpine. Next to get in my opinion would be Clarion above Kenwood, Pioneer, and Panasionic.

Keenwood Excelon HU's have that feature as do sony's ,,,Avoid Sony .. as for what sounded best in a shop..never go buy that.. Alot of shops will put the lower end subs ina badly tuned enclosure with improper airspace. and be completely **** about the Subs that make them more $$$. For the price as the JL's you can get Audiomobile EVO's whcih will play a bit lower. Louder, and handle more power.
