To Any Knowledgable Person.....
I've got a question that I've already asked in the "General Ramblings" column, and I didnt get very much help, so I am now asking it here...
I am installing 2 10" JL subs in my trunk, but I'm concerned about the sound being "trapped" in the trunk. I will most likely be running a 600 watt Kenwood amp, or 200 watt Fosgate amp WITH THE STOCK DECK (if that helps any). So if anyone has experienced the sound being "trapped" or has anything to say to reassure me, then please, anything is welcome. Thanx
P.S. Do you guys think that my stock deck will sound alright with the subs????

well you can set your box on your back seat if that would make you feel more comfortable. But do you think that everyone on this site that has subs in the trunks would spend all this money and put all this time into it if the sound didn't come through. not to be mean but have you ever sat in a car that had a sub in it??? just hook it up and if u can't hear it... well then you have a Very bad install.....

Your sound will not be trapped!!! If you think you hear it is then get a Dynamat trunk kit!!! That is what I did and it is crystal clear! It is just find to cruise around with the stock deck but I will tell you that replacing the stock deck with say a Pioneer 8400 or even a 6400 will have you pooping your pants!!! The sound is freaking awesome after replacing the stock deck. I cruised around with the stock deck, 2-12" JL Audio subs, 2 Rockford Fosgate amps (500X and 200M) and two pioneer 1667s and it sounded TIGHT but when I replaced the stock deck with a Pioneer 8400, nothing came close to that whole and complete sound of my new complete system!!! Put your subs in and Dynamat your trunk if you want and eventually get around to replacing the stock deck if you have the time and or money!!! Good luck and just have fun with it!!! If the subs are x-overed where they are supposed to be, the sound will be excellent even being installed in the trunk with the seats up. Actually you should "feel" them more than anything. "Sub" frequencies are non-directional, if you hear your subs in the trunk, you system is not configured properly.
