I was just wondering what kind of 5 1/4 components would you get for the front? I'm looking for nice clean sound but nothing more than like $225
thanks!

I'd recommend the Focal Polyglass line they go for $230-240 depending on where you get them. They're great all around components. Otherwsie the price is gonna be jacked up from local stores

Don't listen to them...go to crutchfield.com and find the kicker component set. it's around $180 and only cost $5 for shipping. It even comes with install instructions.Click for Crutchfield.com

the kicker's are nowhere near as good as the others already listed in this forum, for the money you'll notice it

Dude...Crutchfield is a good source of info only..their prices are often higher than regular retail outlets...not the best place to buy things from...Also the kicker resolutions are not quite on the same level as the above mentioned components...

Crutchfield is way too expensive. There are a lot cheaper places to shop. Go to Crutchfield to look at some nice pictures and get some good detailed info, but don't buy there.

What do you guys think of the Polk DX3055's?

I'm either gonna lean between the Focals or the JL Audio XR's but I wanted to know everyone's opinion on the Polk's...
thanks.

I would go with mohawkboom's suggestion of thezeb.com. A friend and I have been ordering stuff from them for a couple years now. Very good deals. I got my MB Quart three-way components there. They are very, very clean sounding(the best that I've heard). I got them for around $250. They have a 5 1/4" woofer, 4" mid, 3/4" tweet, and a pair of musicomp crossovers. Very nice.

on the Focals, is there gonna be THAT much of a difference between the Polyglass and the Polykevlars?

Only if your running a High voltage HU with good DAC"s and very clean outputs, and really good amps.. otherwise.. Nope..same tweeter. Same motor. same magnet. Different cone material, different crossover..

Very tough one.. The XR's would sound a little smoother. but the polyglasses have more dynamic sound to them.
