EX coupe stock tweeter wiring/powering question

Hi folks, I have a 2002 EX coupe that I've had since, well, 2002. I've changed the HU several times but never the speakers. Now, I feel is the time to upgrade speakers. I've looked into the issue of stock tweeter replacement (for the one on the sail panel of EX coupes) and it seems like it will be difficult to find a good match to make a nice looking (e.g. factory look) flush mount.

So, I'm thinking of upgrading just the front door and rear deck speakers and leaving the stock sail panel tweeters. But are the stock tweeters wired in parallel to the HU/amp? Can I just replace the door/rear speakers and leave the stock tweeters in (and connected)? Another potential/probable issue is that if I install aftermarket door/rear speakers that are likely 4 ohm, they will probably be much lower in volume than the stock tweeters, which would probably require an amp to adjust the volumes appropriately (my HU, JVC KW-R900BT, I don't think can do that). Would getting 2 ohm Infinity/JBL speakers make this less of an issue so that I could run them off the HU (I don't think there's room behind the double DIN receiver to fit an amp and I don't want it anywhere else)?

Also, if anyone knows of any aftermarket tweeters that are fairly good fits for the stock tweeter mount/hole and that can still be purchased new, please let me know! I measured it just now and the hole is between 1.5-1.75" in diameter (and the width of the stock tweeter is a little under 2").

I have an 02 EX as well but no factory tweeters so I'm not sure about the aesthetics. I know most component speakers have a crossover block somewhere in line or either on the bigger speaker. I'd take out the door speaker and see if anything is attached to it or if you can trace the wires to the tweeter. You can also disconnect the door speaker and put a multi-meter on it to check the resistance (ohms). If they are in parallel I would imagine it would be an 8-ohm speaker, 2 8-ohm speakers wired in parallel creates a 4-ohm load. Hope that gives you some direction.

Thanks for the reply, although I am hoping to get some info prior to taking the panels off, etc. I think I read a thread from this forum that stated that the EX coupe stock tweeters are directly connected to the (stock) HU. I already installed my newest HU which provides 20W RMS so it should probably be okay if I keep them connected for now while I change the door and rear speakers first. I'll try to find some separate tweeters for the sail panel mounting cups down the line if I can find ones that fit well.

Anyone with any thoughts about getting 2/3 ohm speakers from Infinity/JBL, or is that just marketing rather than real benefit (when using stock small gauge wiring)?
