No AM Radio

I have 2004 with an Alpine CDA105 aftermarket radio. From searching some old threads it appears that there is an amplifier of some type that if not powered, you have no AM. My questions:
Where is their device on my 2 door?
Does it need to be switched when going from AM to FM?
Does Honda refer to it as a coil?

Thanks for any help

Re: No AM Radio

When you wired up the aftermarket radio did you connect the blue (remote) wire from the head unit to the blue wire from the harness?

This will give the amplifier power. It's required for AM since our cars have no external antenna.

This radio was in the car when I bought it. So the the thing that Honda calls a coil is improperly named and is really an active device?
