sorry if this is a stupid question, but i really have no idea about these kind of things but say i have this sub
http://www.crutchfield.ca/Pioneer_TS...130tsw3084.htm
Will this amp be good to power the sub based on the specs? http://www.crutchfield.ca/ProductDet...Show=TechSpecs
Thanks and again sorry for being a noob at this.

Re: help with sub and amp
It will work but be careful as that amp is more power than that sub will handle. Make sure you follow the amp tuning guide on here to set the amp level properly so that you don't fry that sub.

Re: help with sub and amp
ok thanks i will definitely do that. Do you think I would need a capacitor for it? I'm only planning to have this amp and the sub and no other amps for my speakers (maybe in the future). And as for an installation kit do i need a 8 gauge or 4 gauge amp install kit? If there's anything else i need to buy that i'm missing please let me know. Thank you.
Re: help with sub and amp
I would get a 4AWG cable. Only because if you want to add another amp for your speakers it would be be easier (and cheaper) to have the right size gauge wire if you ever want to upgrade.
Is that amp the digital series?
Check out http://www.knukonceptz.com/index.cfm for good install kits.
Im planning on getting some digital fuse distributors and some more 4AWG power wire. They sell wire by the foot so if you can estimate how much need, you won't have an abundant amount left over.

Re: help with sub and amp
That amp is slightly higher rated than your sub, but if you tone it down to ~28V you should be fine
Wire the sub down to 2ohm, and at 28v, you will be slightly under 400W RMS
I would definitely buy 4gauge wiring kit for future upgrade (even if you dont upgrade, it wont do any harm.)
Capacitor is completely optional.
If you have a few extra bucks to put in a .5F or 1F cap, I recommend it to reduce some of the strain of your alternator/batt, but if not, it's fine.

I'll be getting a 2Farad cap from Sonicelectronix. I don't need that much farad but I got a raise at work so wth, why not? I'll post some pics/review/etc when I get it installed with the new amp as well

Re: help with sub and amp
thanks for the replies but I was watching some vids on youtube on this amp and one guy said that this amp only takes 8gauge wires and he had to do some modifications to use a 4gauge. Anyone know if this is true or if anyone actually has this amp and know for sure that it cant take 4gauge wire without modifying it?
Re: help with sub and amp
I'll still only be having 900 watts RMS though. 600mono class-D, 300 4ch-AB. Those power cells weigh near 30lbs. Too much weight for a lightweight audio system. My car sags already with whats in there
Oh and the cap is 79.99 or something.

The other option is to just trim the diameter of the #4 wire to make it smaller until it fits into the connector on the amp.

Hey OP. Just to let you know...
On sonicelectronix.com their "daily deal" is a Rockford fosgate 4gauge amp kit for 54.99. You got 15 hours-45minutes from this posting to purchase it.
I have the Rockford 4gauge dual amp kit let my tell you it rocks.lol. It has everything you need to get your amp rolling.
Im buying my stuff right now actually. Im buying 283.00 USD worth of audio stuff. Spending more on other car stuff like brake pads and a door actuator.

Re: help with sub and amp
It would be a secondary battery
Thing about capacitors, is that all they do is be charged and discharged
Which also stresses the alternator to keep up with recharging it.
Power cells acts as a backup battery, constantly being charged by the alt.
In case your battery fails, you'd still have electricity in your power cell to turn over your car. Cannot say the same for a cap.
Good read:
http://knowledge.sonicelectronix.com...ower-cell.html
The only problem with power cells, is that you'd have to get some lengthy wiring to hook it up along with your existing battery
(Or i believe u can use your preexisting 4ga and buy a couple shorter 8ga from PC to amps)
Well, its up to you.
Looking @ it's dimensions:
3"D x 7-1/8"W x 6-1/2"H
It's about same size and weight as a motorcycle battery

Re: help with sub and amp

Ok I drew up this schematic real quick showing how I would wire everything important. aka Power/Ground wire.
Im assuming if i get this, I will need three fuses for every device that is linked up to this kinetic battery, as well as one toward the power wire linking to the original battery up front right?
