Expert Advice Needed
Hey Everyone,
I was thinking of upgrading my system. I have all stock equipment right now but i was thinking about getting front and rear Infiniti Kappa speakers for my coupe(Is this the best brand?) and a profile or bolt
amp(dont wanna go crazy spending money). I wanna know if i should upgrade(if it will make a noticable different in clarity, sound, and repercussion) or should i just stick with stock. Expert advice needed please. I want the system to sound like it just came out of a Lexus,BMW, or Audi.
Thanx
Mike

Well, this doesn't require an expert. Obviously Infinity Kappa's are going to sound WAY better than ANY factory stereo, wether it be from a Civic or a BMW. For that type of speaker, yes, you are going to need AMPS! I would STRONGLY recommend USAcoustics if you're on a budget. I've got two of their amps, and have been EXTREMELY happy with the quality of them. I had three at one point, but I sold one. They are not too expensive, but put out good, clean power for the money (keeping it cheap). I'd definently recommend the Kappa's. I have the 60.2cs components in my truck, and I LOVE THEM!! Only had one problem, a blown tweeter. I called Inifinity and they sent me a new one, free of charge, and didn't even make me send the old one back. I still have it! As far as speaker choice, it depends on the car you drive. If you're sportin' an EX, you will most likely want components up front. It would be a fairly easy install, using the factory tweeter pods. There would be a chance that you would be disappointed (not likely!) if you went from stock components to aftermarket coaxials. If you're not in an EX, any speaker upgrade will make a ton of difference for the highs. You also won't have the tweeter pods, but could buy them from a place like here. That would allow you to get components and make the install look factory. Components are going to be more expensive, but no matter what you drive, you will be happier with these over coaxials in the long run. You just have a ton more options as far as placement.
Sounds like you are well on your way to a better sounding system. Just remember that you're going to have to custom fabricate some brackets to fit any aftermarket 6 1/2" speaker in the front doors (they're too deep). You also need 6x9's for the back.
As far as the amp goes, yes, you want a 4-channel. These speakers will not sound good off your factory deck, so you're gonna need amplification.
Hope this helps.
