I gotta a friend of mine wanting some sort off in car media center other than a carputer. He has an old xbox, ps2, ps 3, and 360 and cant decide which one to use, he was wondering about any hardware needed i.e inverters, mountin tips, etc.

Me and him have both done alot of searching oline for information and he still wanted me to ask, oh yea he has a 2002 lx.

Tell him to ask himself how much he would actually play games in the car...Why, when you could play in the house on a lot bigger screen... (you are watching too much of that one show, "Pimp my Ride")

I would never do it...unless it was an RV, but it wouldnt be a permanent install...

I guess I would say PS3 also, but that is just my gaming preference...

Heh. I didn't think people still did that. I mean, if I were to choose one, I guess ps2. Yeah, it's old. But if it gets stolen, they're like 50 bucks and I won't be too mad money wise. Still blows though.

Yeah but I think if you were to put it in then you wouldn't just tape it to your dash, you'd probably hide it somewhere.

I say go with the ps3, that way you can watch hi-def blue ray movies on that 7 inch screen, you'll get stunning resolution.

ok, i would like to know your justifications (reasons) for wanting a counsol unit in ur car...





here are reasons why any consol is completly useless when it comes to utility:

-who the hell wants to play a consol in the car? its so freaking inconvienent and you look like a retard doing it.
-no one spends that much free time in their car.
-you will be able to play for like 20mins before ur car's batt is drained. or you can leave ur car on but ur gonna waste a crap ton of gas
-you will RARELY USE IT (trust me on this one)

*the only reason why you might want it in ur car is IF your car was a SHOW car... otherwise its useless.


i have a carputer and already think its usless and overly excessive...and inconvient.

-it has a slow boot up time (30sec),
-user interface is no were as convient as a car's (unless u take time understanding the program and setting it up),

the only positive thing about a carputer is that you can show it off and people go "ohhhhhh that is so cool because i am so simple minded and have never seen a car running windows...SOO COOL"

i have NEVER used my carputer for watching movies, surfing the net,
playing games...etc

just music and navi...and right there is a little more inconvient than a headunit thats dedicated to those two things.

but if you argue doing that project for the sake of expierence, then id say go for it, because that is priceless and worthy.

Heh.. I have a head unit capable of video and ive used it once... for movies.. because my daughter was in the car and even then you cant use it unless the parking brake was on... I mean, you can... but I don't

If you get one your just begging for someone to peek in your car and steal it. I saw a older generation mustang with a ps2 hidden under the seat with the A/V wires poking out. If I was a robber I wouldnt think twice.

My HU has a tv tuner..anybody have one of those and use it?

If you can be diskreet about it by all means. That would be sweet to have while going for a "joyride"

Well since nobody actually answered your question i might as well. You will need other than the obvious (console/monitor) a power inverter. As far as mounting be creative for theft issues putting it in the trunk is your best bet. All your gonna need is the consoles original wires and possibly an extension cord for power/RCA or HDMI if you go that route 360/ps3 have wireless controllers that dont need direct view of the console so that might be your best choice. I had a ps2 back in the day that was under the glove box and needless to say a broken window later it was gone with a few other things I think i can dig up the mouting bracket if your interested as it looked incredibly factory the way it was made and didn't destroy the passengers leg room. My friends loved it for the long rides givin something to do on the colledge fieldtrips but to each there own cause i never got to use it. Most people on here are just givin you S*%T because car media isnt JDM

yeah i don't watch movies on mine either actually once i put a **** on
in traffic and turned the volume way up and embarrassed the **** out of my friend lol. but i guess your girl or boy could play games while your driving around ???
