05 Civic DX won't start, dash lights freak out, etc.

05 Civic DX won't start, dash lights freak out, etc. Howdy all.
Stopped the car for 10 minutes, went to start it and the dash lights freak out, speedo needle shakes erratically, I hear a relay ka chik ka chik ka chik-ing on passenger side under glove box (not every time though), heard what may have been a low voltage arc sizzle under the dash near the steering column. All of this and no start.
I have no idea where to begin. Is this a carputer fubar?
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

sounds like dead battery. if you were driving though and it didn't charge, then the alternator is likely dead.

Thank you folks. It seems that, while the posts and clamps didn't appear all that corroded, they were at fault. My little Honda is just a lot more high tech than my '77 Volvo or my '80 Caprice Classic; all them blinking lights and clickety clacks done tossed me for a loop.
