Amps and Subs Questions
I drive a 2004 Civic EX Coupe. I have a Sony Xplode head unit, 4 infinity speakers, 2 infinity tweeters, and a crossover. All installed back in 2004 except for the new sony xplode head unit that I replaced last year. I am looking at getting some amps and subs for my car and have no idea what's good.
I play alot of rock and techno in my car. I want nice clean and rich bass that I can play loud without distorting the sound. It's been a while since I installed my stereo so the name brands that I know of are audiobahn, mtx audio, sony xplode, and infinity. Are any of these good? I'm not a fan of kicker, alpine, polk, clarion, or pioneer. Is there something better?
One amp or two amps? 10-inch subs or 12-inch subs?
Not sure of the specs of what I have installed. If anyone needs specs in order to recommend something, tell me what you need to know and I will find out.
Please help!

Re: Amps and Subs Questions
First, you need to let us know a few things.
What model Sony head unit you are using, and which model infinity speakers do you currently have installed?
I would focus on amplifying the speakers, you will notice a substantial improvement in sound just from that. If you feel that you require more bottom end after that, then consider a subwoofer.

Re: Amps and Subs Questions
look into some JL's or JBL's. and if you want the option to have more audio options at the touch of your hand look into some alpine head units. i've had mine for about 3 years and love it
Re: Amps and Subs Questions
You should get 2 10" Orion Subs (XTR) or (XTR pro)
i have a 12" Xtr and its great for loud bass but its not the cleanest...my friend has 2 10" Orion Xtr's and they sound really clean and crisp and they still hit hard!
If you get 2 Xtr's (not the pro's) you can power both with one amp, my friend has a powerbass 600*2 and he has it bridged.

Sorry for the delayed response. Here are the models I currently have.
Headunit: Sony Xplod CDX-GT330
Speakers: Reference Series 9603i 6" x 9" three-way car audio loudspeaker
Reference Series 6000cs 6 1/2" two-way car audio loudspeaker component system
These are off the only boxes I could find. I have two infinity tweeters and a crossover as well. The crossover was needed because the tweeters are mounted near the dash and not next to the front speakers in the door. I don't know if those speaker models included the tweeters so I'm mentioning them again.
I'll look into Orion, Image Dynamics Audio, and Rockford Fosgate. Any other ideas?

Re: Amps and Subs Questions
Sorry for not spotting this thread earlier
You're a fan of just about all the worst brands there are for car audio (with the exception of MTX), and dislike all the better brands
Here's a link with a ton of information for you:

Personally?
I would either go with 12" JL Sub + JL/kicker/pioneer amp combo, sealed

I agree with kenny kid. Your hating on all the Brands that have made a solid name for themselves in car audio.
If you listen to rock and techno, I'd go with 2 10" subs in a sealed box. 10" subs will hit more frequencys and sound better than 12"s. 12"s will hit harder though. The sealed box also helps alot with hitting a wide rAnge of frequency.
What I'd get if I were you, would be 2 10" kicker comp vr or alpine type r, with an alpine mrp 850 amp and 4 gauge wire.

and 10" will not hit more frequencies, instead, 10" will produce higher frequencies, whereas the 12" will produce lower frequency (hence the bass).
The sealed box keeps the bass really tight and rich
The 10's will give you cleaner sound, which wont explode your ears with bass.
If you do go the 2 10 route, find a nice slot ported box for them.
