Amazing new 6X9's but...

2004 Honda Civic Coupe VP
So I finally got around to upgrading my rear speakers and went through the arduous task of removing the rear deck to install them and putting it all back together without breaking anything and they sound great, as long as the bass and volume isnt up too high that is. These are top of the line JBLs http://www.jbl.com/EN-US/Products/Pa....aspx?PID=P963 but I'm currently stuck with a stock stereo and no amp so I definitely cant get even close to their max output without making them "fart." I'm thinking that its partly due to the complete **** wiring that came in my car since its a value package but im looking to upgrade my stereo to one that has a good built in amp, do y'all have any suggestions for something thats not too pricey but can handle these massive speakers.

only way you're gonna get optimum sound out of them is if you get an external amp.

Most headunits have an output that's something like 50Wx4.

And that is 50w peak - not continuous (RMS) power which is usually only around 22wx4.

Those particular speakers that you are looking at have a RMS rating of 110w which means you'll really be missing out on their potential if you power them with the 22w head unit.

Get an external amp as stated above, with an output of 75-125w per channel and you'll be happy you did.

if ur going to drop that kinda money on some 6x9, you better do yourself a favor and get a goood amp to push them and a good headunit. or else it's potential will be wasted.

+1 on everything everyone has stated,

But on the 22wX4 comment, You'd be lucky to get 20w per channel
Most Aftermarket HU's only produce about 17w per channel RMS
Yea, they're horrible

Get an external amp
