Double-Din HU -- Security?
So Crutchfield is having a huge sale on double-din head units, and I've been thinking about getting one, but most of them don't come with detachable faceplate's. I live in a very quiet, good neighborhood--my concern is when I go to places like the Waterbury mall. My car isn't flashy at all...15 inch rims, no tinted windows or anything (the nail that sticks out gets hammered = my philosophy) and I installed a flashing LED in my dash when the alarm is on. Is there really anything else I can do to deter a thief from wanting to take one of these? I'm almost positive the squaretrade warranties that come with these don't cover theft.

Re: Double-Din HU -- Security?
you are kinda stuck. and usually old cars get broken into more often than newer flashy ones because thieves know its easier to get in and usually theres no alarm. i would say get a regular unit with detatch face. otherwise pull out the whole unit when you goto the mall.
Re: Double-Din HU -- Security?
Tape a tissue over it when you leave the car? That won't draw any attention
But seriously, you're kind of stuck... If u really want the double din, go for it tough.

Just get the JVC KW-NT3HDT. That's the one I have and it's great. Detachable face (double din)... GPS, HD RADIO, BLUETOOTH, DVD...
Everything works GREAT, USB, and AUX jack on the front. Bluetooth works beautifull with my iPhone, no one tells I'm on the speaker phone...
No lag on USB o iPod playback, clean interface... and looks really clean with the Metra kit.
Just my 2cents. I've got it when it was first released and paid 1200 for it (installed my self), right now Crutchfield is asking $800
Highly recommended. JVC is the only one that makes double din detachable.

Re: Double-Din HU -- Security?
Thanks for everyones responses. I'll have to check that JVC out, (+1) it actually does look really clean. If I don't end up getting a double-din I would settle for this: http://www.crutchfield.com/s_130P620...T.html?tp=5684

Re: Double-Din HU -- Security?
that deck looks good too, saw it at walmart for 240? lol not sure why its so cheap on crutchfield. usb ftw
Re: Double-Din HU -- Security?
That JVC one looks SEXY. I saw it last night and if i wasn't saving up for a car, school, and travel ... i would get it. I wouldn't get the single DIN pioneer one you listed, i saw it at best buy, i dunno it was too pasticy for me. I'm going with the Pioneer MVH 8200BT http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...H-P8200BT.html
