Which Speakers?
Hey everyone, I have a speaker question for you. First of all, I don't want some big fancy system, all I want are some new 6x9, 6.5, and tweeters for my car. I need to know which speakers are the best. I have been looking on ebay and there are some good deals on Kenwood 4-way 6x9 speakers. There are also some good 6.5 2-way speakers that are new and under $100. If I get kenwood speakers, would I see a big difference over my crappy 1-way speakers? I would really appreciate your input!

Well avoid regular kenwood speakers... if you just want new speakers get Infinity reference components for the front and 6X9 2-ways for the rears...Investing in a new HU/ Deck would bea good idea as well.

Mohawk is right about getting components for the doors. I have the Kappa components and they sound great. Here is a link to the Reference series components he is talking about:Click Here It would probably be worth it to save up your pennies and pay the extra $$
Smile PhotoVideo has them for $119.95, and I'm sure that somebody else knows other places that have them cheap.

<< I think I am going to get 2 component sets and just use the woofers in the rear. I guess I can hold onto the tweeters in case the first pair breaks or something. >>
Why do that dude?..then you'll have rear midbass..which still destroys imaging anyhow and has slmost no added benefit.. not really worth it.. Just get components up front and gve them buttloads of power ..Right now I'm giving my components 320Wrms to each side...way way way overkill.. but it's good to have headroom
the only thing with my system is I have 8 volt outputs off my HU and the amps out out max power with a 2.5 volt Signal..so if NO one plays with my indash EQ (el cheapo pioneer with master volume controll and 4 volt max output) I'm all safe lol..I'll shut up now sorry guys .

I've been reading any and all posts that I can find about componant speakers and I just want to make sure I have it right...
If I get a set of good components for the front, do I even need the rear deck 6x9's?
if I DO need the rear 6x9's I should get 2 ways? right?
OR, could I hook up an amp with some sort of sub-woofer in the trunk to use with the componets?
thanks
Bill

Your first upgrade should be a head unit Eclipse, Alpine and Nakamichi to name a few good one's, try that first you might decide you don't need new speakers. The factory head unit doesn't put out enough watts for componets other then the stock ones, you'll need at least 50 watts rms to run componets. And don't trust the rating on the deck that says 50 watts the rms is only about 25 watts if that. I have 80 watts on my mb quart componets nice and loud . Make sure and listen to any speaker you buy. Note the tweeter metal tweeters are real agressive like mine while silk are much more laid back it all depends on what like.
