Trunk Port?
I have an 03 civic EX coupe
Idk if anyone else actually notice that they have this flap under the left rear bumper near the gas door

Somewhere near that area, I noticed when my sub was going, there would be this nasty sound coming from near my trunk, and I isolated it to this part of my car
I have no experience in taking apart the bumper, but running my hand behind the panel, I could feel this oval shaped opening, with some kind of film covering it
Each time the bass hits, this flap would move air through it, so i'm guessing its some kind of ventilation port
I'm not sure if anyone else has this experience, but i want to see if anyone knows how to deaden it, or something.
Or if anyone could open it up and take a pic of it at least would be nice
I really hate having nice sound inside, and dirty bass on the outside

Re: Trunk Port?
i just removed it. it can squeeze off without removing the bumper but there is very little room. its just a plastic piece with rubber flap on it, mainly to equalize pressure or something. i took it out and put dynamat over the hole. now its a tad bit harder to close the doors when all the windows are up, so it makes the car more air tight. you have to pull back the trunk liner on that side to get to it and unclip the holder. then slide it out from the outside between the bumper and trunk.

Re: Trunk Port?
yea, it opens when you close the door or something similar. it's meant to keep things from being unpleasant from closing the door due to the pressure spike. it's just a place to vent excess pressure.

Re: Trunk Port?
I thought the sub making it vibrate was more annoying, since it's constant
it was this rattling flapping sound....sometimes like a buzzing rattling noise when flap is in the wrong place

Re: Trunk Port?
Okay, so I just took a look at it, and removed it, fairly simple, 3 clips holding it together
Pushed it out from the inside, now i dont have that nasty sound outside of my car, (but now trunk rattling D: )
Need to seal it up, looks like the tire's gonna throw gunk through that hole
From inside:

The port in question: (says "Air vent assembly" on it)

Takes literally 5 mins to take it out, maybe less, if anyone needs to know

Re: Trunk Port?
yeah you want to seal up the hole for sure. also you will get alot more noise if you leave it open, and water and dirt coming in.

Re: Trunk Port?
I was thinking about sealing it with some duct tape and poking some small holes in it
If it makes sound, I'll just completely seal it
