Rep Power: 0 green key flashes on instrument panel
at times when i try and start my 2001 civic lx, the green key on the instrument panel flashes and it will not do anything, all lights and everything elseworks but the starter will not engage or make any other noises, by turning the key on and off a few times sometimes then it will engage and start. its the orginal key. though it might be the nutural safety switch but moving the shifter from netural to park does not help. the starter or nothing will engage. any suggestions

yeah its either the key went bad or the immobilizer system itself. if it cannot read the chip in your key, it will shut off ignition and fuel pump. check for loose battery connection too. if you have a spare key, try that one too. do not have any other electronic type devices (or other chipped keys) around the honda key when starting the car.

A bad key fob would still let the motor turn over. I think the ignition is the culprit.

Try another key to eliminate it being the chip inside. Maybe someone did a starter install and added a bypass. Then removed it....partially....before selling it to you.
