n00b alert... :/

this is what's in the car right now:

it's a little older, alpine (not sure on model).

if i want this:
http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_1...tp=20217&avf=Y

Will I only need this:
http://www.scosche.com/products/productID/1925

And just to make it a little more confusing... I found somewhere a single din would work if i just popped out the middle part. I'm assuming that's what's holding the Alpine stereo in there, so can I pop out the middle of it and be good to go?

Again, sorry for my lack of terminology. But I'm pretty sure I was as clear as possible, lol.

It will look like **** if you dont buy the trim piece. You will also need a harness that connects to your OEM radio harness, so you dont have to cut it off.

Re: n00b alert... :/

ok. i didn't understand if the trim from the double din AND the single din (what i'm assuming was in there with the alpine) are the same trim in the outside sense. so then popping out the middle wouldn't work.

and is a wire harness different for single din vs double din? as in a different wire harness than what's in there?

Re: n00b alert... :/

keep the old alpine! those are awesome decks. but if you must switch to the screen, get the 2005 civic SE (special edition) oem double din trim piece that replaces the one you have now.

Just a word of caution, if you select "Outfit You Car" on Crutchfield it says this headunit will not fit. Although, Crutchfield usually does this if some modification is required for the unit to work right.

You dont absolutely need the double din plastic, but without it there will be a gap around the stereo. Also crutchfield said that my stereo that i have right now would not fit in my car but it did, i had to drill new holes in my cars stereo bracket, because otherwise the stereo was sitting to far back and it didnt look right. I really wish i had taken better pics during my install, but heres what i got. Maybe it will help u out.

Re: n00b alert... :/

it was never a trim or no trim question... just WHICH to get lol.

crutchfield said it won't fit but pioneer's website says it will, and i've found lots of 7th gen's with the particular one i want... i just know my knowledge only goes so far (obviously) and i don't want to buy everything and hand someone a headache who tries to install it.

is the wire harness for the alpine that's in there different from the wire harness i would need for the new pioneer one i want?
