the best legal bulbs which are brighter and whiter than stock while still using 55w are the philips XP (x-treme power) bulbs from www.powerbulbs.com. if you want to save some amps, the ecovisions are nice too. thats what i have now but they are basically the same as stock, just uses less power.

Do these make them run hotter? safe for stock wiring?

What about Phillips Crystal Visions?

crystal vision is a blue coated bulb so i cant recommend it (less light output). the philips xp are clear bulb and uses stock 55w so it will be safe for replacement.

I recommend Sylvania Silverstars Ultra. Brighter with a hint of yellow on the end.

65 High / 55 Low 100% Street Legal, Last twice as long as normal halogen bulbs

Re: recommend h4 bulbs?

I'd go for philips xtreme if you want the most light output. I tried out silverstar ultras before, the light output is about the same as the philips but their longevity sucks. Mine lasted a little over a year. I can't atest for philips though cause I haven't had em that long, hopefully they last longer. I know they won't last as long as a standard halogen b/c they run hotter, I'm willing to buy a new set every few years or so cause the light output is excellent.
