'02 LX stock HU for '02 EX Stock HU (swap)
Hello all,
I have been lurking for some weeks now trying to find the answer to this:
I have a '02 LX Sedan and at one point I had the stock HU with the tape deck. I am looking to install a '02 EX Sedan's stock HU in to my '02 LX (This EX head unit is a CD player, unlike the tape deck with different part numbers as well). Is this possible? Have any of you guys done this?
Part Numbers:
LX 39100-S5A-A11ZB
EX 39100-S5A-A60ZA
I have heard conflicting arguments from mainly dealers and parts people that this will not work. The reason being is that there might be an issue with the wire harness? The EX and LX wire harness are both separate types or separate part numbers.
In all, how much of a pain-in-the-*** would this be? From additional information I've gathered, the stock head unit sometimes doesn't even play burned CD-Rs. Further me on this too if you can. I just want my civic back to stock, no frills, just OEM. I have looked into the accessory CD player option (I can post the part number for that if need be) but I am not enticed with it.
Take a look:

Thanks in advance, folks.

check my electrical manual and it shows just one connector harness for power, gound, speaker connections. the second is for an external cd player or changer. should be fine but try check with gearbox to be sure.

the connectors are physically the same on both decks, so i dont see why it wouldnt work. its a simple power/switch/ground/speaker wire plug.

the EX i had came with a CD HU. it didn't have a tape at all and it didn't have that CD player add-on under it. i'd double check your part numbers.
