Rear Speakers in 2005 Sedan
Rear Speakers in 2005 Sedan
I know there have been many threads about this, but I haven't found anything that can fix my particular problem.
I have followed the stickied guide for replacing the rear speakers. I removed the bolt from each side cushion successfully. However, the side cushion just will not come out.
I have a 2005 Civic EX Special Edition sedan, if that makes any difference. All the other guides say to wiggle the little white tab that holds the side cushion in place. This white tab is said to be located in the "ceiling" of the trunk. However, after hours of searching, I've found that my white tab is located BEHIND a thick metal support beam that is located under the wall carpet. I can only feel the white tab by shoving my finger through a tiny hole in the support column, making it impossible to wiggle around. Surely someone else has had success with this. I really don't want to have to cut the speaker grills off of the back panel.

Re: Rear Speakers in 2005 Sedan
you pull the side pieces straight up towards the roof. more than likely the white clip will crack since it is so brittle. but thats how you remove them. just do it gently but you need to put some force behind it to pop them out.

Well, I replaced my rear speakers in my 04 Sedan Special Edition and ran into this exact same problem as you, unable to actually get at that white tab from inside the trunk.
What I did which worked extremely well and quick was to go inside the back seats, and use a long flathead screwdriver inserted from the side of that back rest cushion. Basically all I did was insert it underneath the tab and pry upwards which popped it out no problems.
