2002 Stock Radio Issues
2002 Stock Radio Issues
Hey everyone,
I'm having issues with my 02 radio not playing burnt cd's. I did some reading on the forum about this and it seems there is no concrete solution other than replacing the radio. I tried some things people mentioned like burning at the slowest speed and making sure the audio isn't in MP3 format.
I use iTunes and converted to AAC format, and burnt at 1x speed. From doing both of these the stereo would play, it took about a little over a minute to load the cd, and changing songs takes a while too.
Is there anything I can do to make it play burnt cd's like store bought cd's? Or anything I can do to at least shorten the load time?
Thanks!
George

Re: 2002 Stock Radio Issues
they dont really factor in playing burned cds when they make these stock stereos. it doesnt surprise me at all. your best bet is to cure your headaches by just getting a new stereo. you can get a dash kit, wiring harness, and really nice aftermarket stereo that plays mp3s, wmas, sat radio ready, and ipod ready for under $100 in total if you shop around. my stereo is killer and i only paid i think 71$ for it (it was almost 300 in the store) and it even came with the wire to plug the ipod in with if you want.

the oem stereo officially does NOT play burnt cds. but when i had mine, it played most of em i made. make sure files are in wav uncompressed format and try different brands of cd-r. yes it does make a difference. even my alpine only likes tdk. other brands wont play or songs will skip.
Re: 2002 Stock Radio Issues
When I had my stock deck, it would only play the cheap Staples brand CDs and only if they were burnt on my sister's computer... it didn't like my burner for some reason.
And it still would only play sometimes... otherwise, it would spit them out and you would sit there for 30 years pushing it in and out over and over again.
There is NO way to get it to behave any better... back in 01 when the deck was released, burnt CDs were different and not as popular as they are nowadays. And if it wasn't designed to play em, it probably won't.

On the bright side, they are very cheap nowadays.
