3M thinsulate?

anyone ever heard or used this stuff? its supposed to be very good at reducing road noise and can be squeezed into small areas. the new acura TL uses the stuff all over the car (along with thicker windows and meltsheet) to block external noise. seems to have started out as a clothing heat insulator.

i went skiing yesterday with a pair of gloves lined with that stuff it was about negative 4 degrees on the mountain and my hands were toasty warm all day long so i can definitely vouch for the insulating aspect of it.

Re: 3M thinsulate?

ive been looking, and seems like most places only sell bulk. its very cheap at $1.50 per sq/ft, but you gotta buy a 1000 ft roll lol. there are other places that sell less, but price goes up to $5 sq/ft and thats more expensive than dynamat. but the stuff is so lightweight and easily compressed, thats why im interested.

Re: 3M thinsulate?

im sure that the heat insulating product is different then the sound insulating stuff. but it would be ideal for road noise and audio setups being so lite and thin.

Re: 3M thinsulate?

smallest roll is 937 sq. ft. and costs $1.47 per sq. ft. so that means you must pay $1,377 plus shipping for the minimum order. thats prolly enough for over 10 cars.

Re: 3M thinsulate?

Sounds like a group of 10 needs to get together & pitch in to reduce the individual cost. I'm not one one of them, just making an observation.
