The thing with JVC is that their cheap decks are great quality, but they don't get much better as the price goes up. I find anyway, their cheap decks have great sound.

Re: JVC or KENWOOD???
the kenwood has enough colors to find something that matches your dash, you dont need to have every color in the rainbow if you are only using one.
Re: JVC or KENWOOD???
that kdc has like so many different colors and you can adjust the display color and each of the ***** illumination, such a bad *** hu, i took it out of my car tho for the kvt-514
Re: JVC or KENWOOD???

i just got the kenwood kdc x993.
now to connect the wiring all i have to is match the color. But there are 2 orange wires on the honda aftermarket wiring harness one is DIMMER and the other is ILLUMINATION and on the kenwood wiring harness theres only 1 orange wire which is tagged as ILLUMI but in the manual it says Dimmer control Wire. so guys which one to connect plz help me. and what about the other orange wire sud i jus leave it open.

Re: JVC or KENWOOD???
you do not just match the colors. you must look at the color codes on both the harness you bought (to plug to the oem connector) and the kenwood radio wiring instructions. alot of the colors do not match. i would not even connect any of the dimmer/illum wires at all, very bad things can happen if you do it the opposite way (permanently burnt dash lights and gauges for example). all the illum wire is used for is auto dimming the deck when you use the park lights. usually you can dim the deck itself in the settings, but even then most ppl leave it full bright all the time no problem.

thank u for the quick reply
well almost all the color codes on the aftermarket harness match to the kenwood harness. i haven't uninstall my stock radio so i dont know if the color code will match to it or not.
when sud i connect the dimmer/illum?

Re: JVC or KENWOOD???
yup, the illumination wire is only to auto-dim the deck from full to half brightness when car parking lights are used. i do not have dimmer/illum wire hooked up and the deck lights up just fine.

Re: JVC or KENWOOD???
any unit should get internal backlighting from the normal battery + wire connection as far as i know. the illum wire is just an accessory for dimming the display. you do need to adjust the internal dimmer manually if you do not hook the illum wire up tho, cause it may default to dim mode and you wouldnt see anything during the day. most decks have an option for dimmer to be on or off.

Re: JVC or KENWOOD???
yup, make sure speaker wires are proper polarity (+ -) and the power wires are hooked up correctly. the constant power goes to the battery (usually yellow), and red to ignition switch for low volt trigger.
Re: JVC or KENWOOD???
hey guyz thers a blue wire in the aftermarket harness for power antena and therz also ablue wire in the kenwood harness whis is tagged as ANT.CONT Do i need to connecte them togather? As far as i know my civic doesn't hav an antena.

Re: JVC or KENWOOD???
yup! your civic does have an antenna, its in the rear window glass. sedans do not need to hook up the wire, because they dont have a signal booster like the coupes, but hooking it up will not hurt anything. if you have a coupe, you must hook it up to get radio reception.
