Looking at some Infinity Kappas. Help me decide
Looking at some Infinity Kappas. Help me decide
So in my '02 coupe the front driver-side speaker decided to crap out and it's time to replace the front speakers with new ones.
I'm looking at Infinity Kappas, mostly because of things people on the boards here have said. I've never actually tried them myself.
I'm looking at the Kappa 60.9CS components (6.5" speaker + 1" tweeter), and of course Crutchfield says they won't fit without their $200 custom kickpanels. I would hope they are wrong.
The 60.9CS model is ~2.43" deep. According to this DIY, the clearance in the front doors is ~1.75" and apparently a .75" spacer won't prevent me from putting the door panel back on. 1.75+.75 = 2.50". I'd be cutting it close, but what do you think?
I already have an amp powering all four speakers (The rears have already been replaced with a decent Pioneer model). The amp is a Pioneer 2-channel amp (An older version of this amp). Site claims it puts out 195x2 RMS @ 2ohms. The kappas want 90W RMS each, which should be pretty close (Each channel is powering two speakers, remember).
Hopefully I've done my research but I'd like some kind of confirmation from you guys first, maybe some suggestions if you have any
Thanks

i have a 1 inch spacer and my door fits perfectly with room to spare. you can also cut off that plastic lip in the back of the door panel around the speaker grill. its useless

i wouldn't mix and match front and rear speakers it doesn't sound rite. i used to have MB QUART front and DIAMOND AUDIO rear and you can definitely tell a difference.
