Sound system and dimming.

I have a Rockford Fosgate 1000.2 amp and 2 HX2s with one cap. My headlights and panel lights still dim. Does this hurt the electrical system in my car? I am planning to add another cap, but I was just wondering for the time being.

Thanks!

if it's a 1000.2 that's a class A/B amp..and there's 2 solutions.. turn the volume down..or get a H/O alternator..that's just too much draw on your electrical system dude..

Class D is good ... but the 1000A2 is a class A/B amp and a pretty inneficient one at that..so might wanna sell it for a class D amp.. or upgrade your alternator..

Dude...he's just trying to say that the bd1000.1 is better than your current amp, because it's a class D amp. Hmm...it's slang, btw...I'm sure you've used similar phrases before.

only way to "fix" dimming is with an HO alternator, but teh battry handles all current draw needs before that, youll be fine with nothing. and a cap is a bigger burden on your E-system, its only a bandaid to the real problem.

you should be fine, if the dimming doesnt bug you. thats really the only reason you need a HO alt. (talking about daily driver systems)

It very well can.. if Voltage drops low enough and the amps safety shutoff doesn;t shut the amp off then your ECU will run on too low a voltage.. start drawing higher current..get hot and fry...

Voice of id with his 74% Efficient BD1000D stalled his car out once because voltage dropped too low.. Your amp is less than 50% efficient so it drawas alot more current...better off to play it safe and get a $650 H/O Alt. or sell your amp and buy a 1000 watt Class D amp
