2002 civic factory tape deck/alarm indicator

2002 civic factory tape deck/alarm indicator hi could anybody tell me if it is possible to take out the factory tape deck (why they put it in a 2002 model i don't know, cassette???)it also has a alarm/immobilizer indicator on the stereo it's self ,would this be possible to upgrade to a cd player without damaging the alarm ? please help i don't even have any tapes.... thanks

It is not part of the alarm (if you have one, look at the sticker on the front windows) The flashing LED just states the unit has "anti theft feature"
