P.i.e. Hon98-aux
Hey guys, came across this site while trying to find out some info on installing an aux input converter in my '04 Civic.
I've got the stock 1-disc CD changer right now, and want to put in the P.I.E. HON98-AUX. From what I gather, it works pretty smoothly.
I just had a couple questions:
1) Do I need to mount it, or can I just shove it up into the dash? (I plan to do a reacharound like described in this guide: http://www.rightclick.com.au/brad/ipodmycar.html) I don't want it rattling around inside as I drive...
2) Ground loop isolator: is this necessary? As of now, I don't plan to charge my iPod while I drive on a normal basis, but I've read places that you should ground it if you don't charge, but not ground it when you are charging. Is there a way so that there is no interference regardless of charging? Or am I worrying about this too much and there isn't a problem to begin with?
That's all I have to ask for now. Thanks!
Jeff

Re: P.i.e. Hon98-aux
I've thought about that, but I really do like the stock look. In addition, I think I can do this myself, saving me installation fees and keeping it right around 50 dollars. Thanks!
Re: P.i.e. Hon98-aux
I just shoved it back there, no rattle or anything, but I'm sure you can tape it down if you're worried about it.
I used my iPod with it, no grounding problems or alt. whine, so don't worry about isolator. Sound quality is great also so you don't have to upgrade HU unless you want controls on the headunit.
Just make sure you have the 14pin connector for CD changer is on your stock HU, I think only EX models have them, but I could be wrong. Other than that it works great I would recommend it to anyone.

Oh, that's good to know. I have a 4 door LX. Is there a way to figure out if I have a 14-pin port without actually taking apart my center console? I'd like to do it as little as possible.
Re: P.i.e. Hon98-aux
I thought only EX models had them, but I could be wrong. Maybe someone else on this forum can clear that up. But if you want to check all you have to do is just pop the bezel out and check, it should only take 5-10 minutes max.
There will be another female socket (I think it's 14 pin?) next to harness plug.
