Dome Light
Dome Light
Okay I searched the forums and couldn't really find what i needed.
For some reason my dome light doesn't turn on when i open my doors, but the light works and turns on when i put it in the on position and goes off when in the off position. It's just when it's in the middle position, it don't come on when i open either door. ('97 2-door)
-thankz

Re: Dome Light
prolly the door nipple broke or is not grounded to the car properly. its the lil black piece that the door pushes on when closed. seems unlikely both sides would fail together so idk. might be something else like maybe a blown fuse.

Re: Dome Light
IIRC the dome light is controlled through the head unit ( I could be wrong ) Has it been changed ??
If the light will work in "ON" then the fuse should be o.k.

Re: Dome Light
Some of the 6th gens have certain items that for what ever reason are wired in with the factory stereo (headunit) If an aftermarket stereo is installed some things can stop working.

Re: Dome Light
The guy told me about the issue when I was at the audio place looking for install parts for my 7th gen.
He said something about leaving the old unit in place hooked up behind the dash (which I find hard to imagine due to space limits) You would need to take the switched power and the speaker wiring loose to hook up the new unit.
Maybe someone on here can chime in on what they have done to resolve the problem.
