Firewall Location : 0/1 Gauge Civic 2004

I read the info here regarding the firewall location that most people use for their civic power wire, but it doesn't appear that it will work for me.

I found the firewall plug just fine, but I seem to have a large wiring harness that's already taking up most of the space. Is there a secondary location that is similarly sized?

Here are pictures of what I spotted, and a comparison of the wire I need to run through it. As you can see, the harness that's already there is about the same size as the aught gauge wire I need to run, so any location that is similar to the occupied spot, should be ok.

Sorry for the image quality. I hope it gives a reasonable view.

It should fit alright. Just chop off part of one of those black pieces that is attached to the harness and punch a second hole in the grommet. Or you can detach the harness completely run the wire and reattach all of it back to the grommet.

There just doesn't seem to be enough room going through the actual wall. I can't even push my finger through the hole, because the seal is so tight, with that harness taking up most of the space.

Yeah drilling is the key with larger wire size like that.

Was that where the circle is drawn on the insulation, in the shots I took?

Re: Firewall Location : 0/1 Gauge Civic 2004

I got through the factory grommet. What a pain though.

If I had to do it again, I would have just drilled a new spot.

It took a lot of careful cutting to avoid damaging the tiny wires that were bundled in the area, and I had to puncture the grommet all the way through with an awl spike, and then stretch it, to avoid ripping the insulation off of the existing wire bundle while feeding the zero gauge through.

The factory hole is big enough, but the rubber seal that you have to go through, on the engine compartment side, is extremely tight. If it weren't for the wires that were already in place, it would have been cake.

There is another hole right above the gas pedal that your heater actuator cable (it's blue) goes through. That hole - once you pop the little grommet out - is more than big enough for a piece of zero gauge.

Geeze, how did you get that grommet out? I tried from in the engine bay, but that baby was going nowhere. I found a rubber stopper under the gas pedal, hoping that I could get some wire through, but it just lead to nothing (and it's a bit too low for my liking) Please tell me how you got the actuator grommet out
