Re: Aux input questions

It depends on what, exactly, you're talking about.

So far, no one makes an adapter like the iPod hookups that allow you to control and charge the player via the factory stereo. neocaraudio.com is close, but they haven't announced a release date.

You have a three options:
1. Aux input via the CD Changer line. This will cost roughly $100, and will not charge the unit or allow any measure of control.
2. FM Modulator. This will do the same thing through different measures as the item above, but at half the price. Audio quality might be a tad less, but if you're running an OEM headunit and speakers, you won't be able to tell. This is what I have.
3. FM Transmitter. Cheapest and most common. You can get it at Best Buy, but you get what you pay for. Or less.

Re: Aux input questions

im pretty sure the only purpose of aux is to transfer sound. i dont see how a command can be sent through audio cable. the only way stuff like this would work is for example, you buy an alpine stereo that has ipod cable connection and interface, then you can control that stuff.

i have fm modulator for our stupid work truck and it sucks a big one

Re: Aux input questions

if its just an aux input you cant use the track up and down to control the mp3 player. i have one for my ipod i love it even though i cant control it through the head unit.

Re: Aux input questions

I don't think they make the interface cables for the zune. Just the Ipod. Just get an aftermarket headunit with an aux input, you'll get better sound because it won't have to run off a transmitter it plugs in directly and most aftermarket headunits put out between 20-30 watts rms. Those transmitters are expense and trash.
