YES!! TYPE-R are WAAAAY better!!

Type-S have a stamped basket and at higher notes you will hear it, the spyder mechanism isnt as good either. Theres more to it then im even saying here but i owned the Type-R's long ago.....Sweet sub but if you can look at the Pioneer Premier subs, youll change your mind!

Re: Alpine Type-R or.....

yeah, freaking expensive as hell. I am still deciding between the S-600 and S-609 or the R's, the peak power is a little better in the R's.... hmmm

eBay can have some great deals if you're careful. I've gotten some things off of there I'm very satisfied with.

Re: Alpine Type-R or.....

yeah i don't mind ebay sometimes, and sometimes its great if your a seller and people don't read the fine print

lol

btw I bought the type S because i went to my local car audio store and tested out the R's and S's at peak, and although the R's were better and crisper, the S can hold its own, and yes I agree Alpine's RIP

Re: Alpine Type-R or.....

look i know that there are lots of guys that are hardcore alpine but lemme tell ya for the same or maybe a little more money than alpine you can get JL. For the price of a type X you could get a w7 or w6 and it will be the cleanest sounding sub you've ever heard. I guarantee it. Even the new pioneer permiers dont have anything on jl. Or for less money you could get 12w3v3s which use similar technology as w6 and w7. either way JL won't disappoint you.

Re: Alpine Type-R or.....

^Agreed!!

i once owned Alpine Type-R's (12") and let me tell you...
The Pioneer Premier 1000W subs i own right now anhilate the R's!
may not look all pretty, but it smoked em' hands down.

With the computer spec vented box on them are insane!
moves my A-pillars, roof, trunk, etc up to 3/4"-1", im surprised i havent snapped a window with them.

Re: Alpine Type-R or.....

congrats on the alpine speakers. I just got a new alpine deck and im impressed. I used to have a clarion and i kinda stole the one outta my dads car. its so sick. Syncs with ur ipod and so adjustable. Ive only got like 90watts rms and maybe 150watts max going to each of my jl 12w0 subs in my computer tuned box and it bumps so loud i set off the alarm on a guys car parked 4 spaces down!!!! I dont think i coulda done that with my clarion. I still would say tho I like the sound from jl speakers/subs more than i like alpine.

I cant wait to get my new jl amp. I think im gettin the 500/1. 250watts rms to each sub and R.I.P.S. technology. I'll be blowin away the competition. People are amazed already wen i tell them that im only runnin a 200watt rms amp and i put out as much as i do. imagin wen i go up to 500 lol. Im gonna be deaf before my 21st bday.

Re: Alpine Type-R or.....

I'm not a big fan of the Alpine Type-R's. My brother had a Diamond D6 and replaced it with an Alpine Type-R he got new from a friend. The Diamond sounded so much better both the lows and highs. The diamond hit a lot harder too.

Re: Alpine Type-R or.....

I love Alpine decks, I have a nav unit in my '04 Ram, but, for speakers, not a big fan, Personally, I am a Infinity Kappa/Perfect fan, they sound amazing when properly installed with amps and stuff, Its kinda pricey,b ut worth every cent in my opinion.
