Re: Pioneer FH-P8000BT
any double din or single din will work. go to www.crutchfield.com and put in your car and they'll tell you everything that fits and everything that wont.
Re: Pioneer FH-P8000BT
yeah, thats the reason i'm asking cause crutchfield is saying that it won't fit. they keep referring to the stock receiver to be 2 7/32" tall, the pioneer is 4" but they don't realize that combined with the storage compartment it's 4.5" tall. i figured that since the D3 fit it would fit also? i was just hoping someone on here had experience with this deck. i'm assuming i'll have to get an adapter once i take the entire unit out?
Re: Pioneer FH-P8000BT
crutchfield will only tell you what will fit exactly. they are really precise and are their mainly for the newbs in car audio. there are plenty of way to make things fit like my jl audio 6 1/2 components for example. crutchfield said they wouldnt fit. all i had to do was make a new ring to mount to the door.
anyway back to this thread.. im sure it will work out. if it comes down to it and you have plenty of time get a metra dd kit and mold it to your console to make it look factory. that would be sick!

Yes, it is the FH-P8000BT. I really love it. Typical great Pioneer sound, bluetooth, USB & aux hookups, iPod control (which I don't use personally) -- it's great!
Re: Pioneer FH-P8000BT
Hey I'm looking to pick up this unit tonight, there's an awesome online sale going on but it ends tomorrow morning.
I'm just a little concerned about putting it in my 2001 Civic, how hard is it to put a double DIN unit like this in, is it simply a matter of getting the right dash kit?
Thanks guys.

For anyone who has installed this radio, where did you get the correct harness? I'm considering buying this but I am unsure of what kind of wiring harness I need and where to get it from. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Pioneer FH-P8000BT
you can get the wiring harness on ebay dude. just type in "wiring harness 2001 civic"
Re: Pioneer FH-P8000BT
Yeah, I realized that after I made this post. The install should be simple, I will probably do it myself sometime within the next few weeks. I just bought the metra faceplate which seems to be well made and looks like a good match for the stock dash. All I need now is the stereo and the harness, which I can probably pick up for about 250 together.
One thing I noticed while doing research about this HU is that some people complain about the dim function not working on some cars. Anyone know anything about this? Also, where is a good place to mount the microphone without having wires dangling all over the place? I've seen pics of people having them mounted up on their visors and others up on the A pillar between the roof lining and the plastic cover on the actual pillar. But how the hell could i get the wires up behind the plastic cover?
This is what I am talking about, it's not in a Civic, but that's the idea. I've never pulled that front cover off and I don't even know if there is space to snake wires up from behind the dash. Any ideas?

Re: Pioneer FH-P8000BT
If it's just a microphone to speak into, why not take your gauge cluster bezel off and mount it on there and slap it back on? To take the a pillar off it should just pop right off. Be careful but don't be afraid to use some force. Your may need to remove the dash to fish the wire through but you should have enough room behind the cover to run the wire and mount it.

I placed my mic behind my rear view mirror
You will have to run the wiring from behind the deck under the steering wheel bring it to the side door up the side (you will have to take of the rubber insollation thing and under the cover of the top. I did mine i dont know how to explain it but its just running it under and making sure you cover it up well ..

Re: Pioneer FH-P8000BT
The Metra double-din trim piece fits nicely, the deck ISO mounts into the factory bracket without any troubles.

Re: Pioneer FH-P8000BT
I have this head unit installed in my 2005 Special Edition Civic sedan and I cannot for the life of me find a trim piece that will fit it. I bought the car used and whoever had it took the SE radio out and put in the standard single-DIN radio. Apparently the whole bezel is shaped differently in the Special Editions and no one makes a double-din trim piece for it for aftermarket radios. Any ideas? I'd rather not spend $100 on the non-SE AC/radio bezel just to get it to look good when all I need is a cheap piece of plastic. I can post pictures if needed.
