Remote not working because of stereo?

Alrighty, well my 2002 SI had the stock stereo in it when I got it. The keypad for the door locks worked perfectly.

At the time of purchase for my car I didnt know much about the actual install. So I bought a deck I liked off the internet and had the local audio shop install it. They made mention of the remote working thru the stereo, but I kinda forgot when this winter I pulled it and put it in my parents SUV for sound.

So it worked after the audio shop installed it and then up till when I stopped driving it for winter. So now after the long sit, and after I messed with the stereo (took it out and put it back in) it wont work.

I changed the batterys in the remote and got nothing. I hooked up every cord how it should be in the back of the deck. So I' not sure what to do. There is some pink one that is in the zip tie but its not connected to any end and never was so I don't know whats up with that.

But other then that mysterious wire (its not a stock wire, its from my aftermarket harness) everything is where it should be.

I checked fuses and everything I can think of.

Although, whats weird is that the yellow constant 12v stopped working. Like it did when put the stereo in first. But what happened is the RCAs in the back of my deck came loose so I took it back out to connect them again and put it back in again. It wouldnt turn on so I got it back out used my test light and just cut the end off the constant and ran a new wire from the battery to the deck. Works great again.

I wouldnt think that would do with keypad though. Thats a stereo thing........

Any ideas?

Re: Remote not working because of stereo?

The 7th gens don't tie in keyless and the audio together. The fact that you lost constant 12V may be a clue. Check the "back up" fuse in the under hood fuse box.

There are a few threads for people who have lost constant 12v as well.
