Need code for audio head unit for 2001 ex
Re: Need code for audio head unit for 2001 ex
Wrong.....you cannot get a radio code from a vin # / not possible....each radio code is separate for each radio / this is why you need the serial #
plus......honda will give you one Anti-theft Radio Code card....on the card is one sticker w/ the code. The other sticker you can either throw away or put somewhere on the car. Totally depending on the dealership.
My dealership puts the extra sticker on the inside of the glove box. I have seen dealerships that don't put that extra sticker anywhere!
I have never ever seen one under the fuse box or any other place for that matter.
You guys are making this too difficult
Just a radio code.....call your selling dealership....I put my codes into the computer records upon UCI (used car inspection)

Re: Need code for audio head unit for 2001 ex
I guess I'm in the same boat. Replaced my battery...No code sticker anywhere, I have been looking through the papers I received when I bought the car (used 01 civic ex) no code card or sticker. I found the serial on the rear of the radio,(I think) after getting to know the disassembly of my lower dash. Problem, no dealer within 75 miles. and work schedule don't permit too much free time right now.

Ashley: You might want to also try under the hood and in the center console.
AmbulanceMonkee: Does this sound familiar. I searched online and found this.
Honda
Radio unlock procedure
Press preset buttons 1 and 6 at the same time.
Turn on radio.
An 8 digit serial number will appear on display. (if stereo was locked up at the time).
NOTE: Example, If your display indicates U5123 L1235
YOU MUST INCLUDE ALL DIGITS.
There will be 8 numbers, a U and a L.

Re: Need code for audio head unit for 2001 ex
I guess the Nice part is not helping me any...I went to the Honda Dealer in Binghamton NY, and I was greeted by a friendly service team member that told me that it would not be a problem to get the code, as long as I provided my registration, and my ID....>>>and 26.00 +tax!!!!! for the whole minute and a half that it took to enter it into the computer! That is some rate....I guess I should go work for honda! I guess the thing that bothers me on the whole thing was that when I called they did not tell me anything about the charge...and that it was for the stock radio that noone would steal anyway.
I guess that it is better than buying a new radio.... Re: Need code for audio head unit for 2001 ex
please tell me you wrote down that code.
i just had to put my code in again from when i disconnected it last week to install my intake. and again, i acquired it a while ago from the dealership, for free
