Make a Component Set?
As my sig shows, I have a set of Alpine 6.5" Coaxial speakers. Their amplified off an Alpine Amp pushing 70RMS @ 4-Omhs. The amp is tuned, and they sound wonderful. But its not amazing. And I want amazing. Now I have my rears faded out since I blew em out. So here my situation. Is it possible to make a Component set out of my Coaxial set? By the way I already have tweeters in my doors. Could I install a passive crossover after the amplifer and run wires to both the tweeters and the speakers and have it sound wonderful? Or not? Im looking for a wonderful soundstage in my 02 Coupe. The other option is to use the 2 unused channels in my Amplifier and install a set of Alpine Type-S 6x9's in the back. $50 at crutchfield. I already have a pair of 10" Type-R subs in the back, amp tuned for SQ not SPL. So just a little curious as to how to make the best soundstage.

Re: Make a Component Set?
if you have a sub, fronts are the most important. if you don't have a sub, you can get a lot of bass out of the rears. i say focus on the fronts.

Re: Make a Component Set?
its true, rears can give good bass. i have a similar setup. 2-way speakers all around, amped, and separate tweeters running off deck power with treble turned almost all the way down. sounds awesome. the tweeters are infinity and have a very small builtin "crossover" so they dont play low sounds.

Re: Make a Component Set?
thats very good info.maybe I could just take my car to a car audio shop and see what they reccommend. anyone else have audio system reviews? like rear speakers versus front componenents.

Re: Make a Component Set?
just like electric said, if you have a sub, then rears are not very important. but with no sub, the rears are gonna be producing 85% or more midbass so you want them to be amped and installed properly. something about the accoustics is very good back there. with the front speakers, you get very little bass.

Re: Make a Component Set?
yea ive noticed that. i actually went out and messed with subs + amps + speakers + headunit today and made it sound very nice. I found out my right side alpine want bolted in anymore, and thats why the bass was so bad. i faded in the rear JUST A BIT, balanced it to the right +2, and turned the input levels in on the amps down. I also faced the subs inward, instead of outward. The end result was balanced sound that was crankable all the way to +35 on the alpine HU without ANY distortion. talk about assault on the earss........

Whatcha willing to pay?
Honestly though, its not worth it to make a set out of what you have. Best to move the front speakers to the rear, and just buy a nice comp set.
Ill point you in the right direction, just give me $$$ numbers.

Re: Make a Component Set?
i now LOOVEEEEE that site. ahaha so many great deals. i think im happy with my setup right now. all the amps and headunit are all in harmony with the perfect balance peaking at the same time, with enough bass at high volumes to pulse your chair. if i every decide to upgrade, Ill either get Type-R components or Infinity components. lol money is not an issue since I have no bills but still work ;P.

JL all the wayy.....lil pricey tho.....mb quart is amazing too but also expensive. you get what u pay for. i believe that they are actually the same company? anyway if u want better sound i suggest getting a new component set and getting some q logic kickpanels with some dynamat in the doors...that should create a better sound stage
