one DVC or two SVC subs??

Hey guys and ladies...I have one quick question...is it better to have a single DVC sub or two single voice coil subs in your car?? Which setup would sound better and be louder? I'm more concerned about sounding better, but I'd also prefer the subs to play louder rather than softer. I'm leaning towards a single DVC so there would be more trunk space left, but let me know what you think.

well depend son the actual ohm loads of the subs... but the vpice coil configuration has vey little to do with how loud or how well a sub will sound...

Give us more info on what kind of sound you want..

What kind of music you listen to

And how much your willing to spend on a sub and an amp for it and we'll get back to you

Cheers

well, I don't know how much I'm willing to spend on the subs and amp yet, but I definitely prefer better sound for a little bit more money than crappy sound. I don't know...I guess around $300 for an amp and another $200-300 for sub(s).

I was wondering about DVC and SVC b/c I want a 2 ohm load of either setting up one 4-ohm per coil DVC sub in parallel, or two 4-ohm SVC subs in parallel.

The sound quality goes down as the ohm load goes down, right?? Is it really that noticeable between 4 and 2 ohms??

for subs the sound quality isn't really noticable..getting a 2ohm load could be too low an ohm load for your amp.. if you want a 2ohm load you'll need a 2ohm mono stable class D amp..

For that price range you have a few options.. mainly to run a single 12" sub.. a 12" Kicker L7 would be a pretty choice.. as would an Adire audio Shiva... an Audiomobile EVO..all subs that will play loud..have good low end and all designed for sound quality first...all under $300..

Cheers

You can get an MTX 6500D Amp for $309 at onlinecarstereo.com. It says 500x1 at 2 ohm, but i think that is just the minimum that the company will allow to sell the amp. I recommend this amp. Good luck!

that's 500Wrmsx1 into 12.5 volts.. at 14.4 it's 750Wrms.. but most of them put out 850-950Wrms
