Will these speakers work? Kappa 63.7i
Will these speakers work? Kappa 63.7i
Hi everyone, I'm installing a Clarion VRX775VD unit in my 05 sedan with a sirius sat CL4 and the 30 gig nav system also from Clarion. I'm also using the Metra 72-7800 Honda/Acura Speaker Harness Pair for a really clean install with the help of the awesome DIY help sheets right here on this page. Anyway, I want to put Infinity Kappa 63.7i speakers in the front and back. Problem is they are 2 OHM speakers and the Clarion online manual say I should use 4 Ohm speakers. What is everyones opionion here on this?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

The 2 ohm infinity speakers seem to work fine on some decks and shut down others. Infinity claims they've never heard of an issue. I personally have heard 3 or 4 reports where there was no audio until the infinitys were replaced with 4 ohm speakers.

They seemed to be working with my deck. Now I run it in 2ohms with a seperate amp though. I would suggest powering the speakers with an amp. You just have to make sure the rears will fit. I know the fronts will fit, because I have them. I still use my stock rear speakers, so I can't tell you if the 63.7i will fit in the back or not.
just realized that you have a sedan, so fitment maybe different. You might want to check up on it.

Re: Will these speakers work? Kappa 63.7i
Hi again, and thanks for the replies so far. What is confusing to me about the whole issue here is that the Kappa 63.7i online manual states that these are 2 Ohm speakers, but if you look at the picture the box comes in, some of them have a 4 with the Ohm symbol and a checkmark at the top right hand corner of the box?
I want to use an amplifier eventually but not right now so I don't want to have to replace the speakers again when or if I ever do add an amp. Especially with how difficult it is replacing the 6.5's in the back of the sedan. What kind of amp would you suggest getting? And if I add an amp, I guess it would be a good idea to also upgrade all the speaker wire too eh? I mean that stock wire is so thin it wouldn't handle an amp would it?
Thanks.

The 63.7i are 2 ohms, I'm 100% sure on that. Upgrading speaker wire is a good idea, it can't do any harm, and can only improve SQ if there is any room for improvement.
You can use any amp as long as you are providing the proper RMS power to them. I'm currently using a JL E2150 amp. Its outputs 110 RMS @ 2 ohms per channel. Sound is very clean. You don't have to use a JL amp, but stick with the reputable brands.

Hmmm, Ok sounds good, I'm now concidering these speakers instead just because they are 4 Ohms. What do you think? Its the pioneer TS-D161 speakers.

Re: Will these speakers work? Kappa 63.7i
Hello again everyone, OK after much researching, this is what I have come up with so far:
Main Head: Clarion VRX775VD
Nav unit: NAX970HD (still can't find an online manual, hope ones in the unit when it arrives )
Sirius Sat Module: SIR-CL3
Speakers: either the Pioneer TS-D161R or the Alpine SPR-17C.
I'm not sure what to do here yet, the pioneer has built in cross overs but only have RMS of 60 watts... the Alpines have no crossovers but have a RMS of 100 watts?

Amplifier: ??? future purchase.
Satellite antenna merger: Going with a XM-SP because this little unit allows me to attach 2 satellite modules (nav and sirius) to one antenna where the SIR-SP specifically says you can only use this for older dual input sirius receivers?
I'm also doing this cause I don't want 2 satellite antennas on my roof. Do you think this XM-SP will work for my app?
Satellite cover: I found this cool company that makes Shark antennas so I can cover only one satellite antenna and make it look like its going to match the car. http://www.visualgarage.com/Product_Overview.html
And lastly I'm going to put a set of LED tail lights on the 05 silver civic sedan car.
So as you can see, I'm close to finishing my car on paper but I still need help with the speakers and the amp. I do however know that I'm not using Kappa's anymore so at least I'm one step closer to picking speakers.
