Error in 2003 Honda Civic

Recently I got the Check Engine light on in my 2003 Honda Civic. After
replacing the oil and filter it did not go. Someone told me to disconnect
the battery for few minutes and reconnect would get rid of this light. Now
after this I got the message on the display to enter the code. I bought
this as used car and manual did not come. I tried several codes and now
it just shows "Error 7" and nothing (radio, CD or clock) works.

Does any one has any idea about the remedy?

Thanx in advance for the help.

You'll have to get in touch with a dealer to fix that. It's a security feature if the radio is stolen.

Also, in the future, when your Check Engine Light comes on, go to an auto place and they'll usually scan it for free (or for very cheap) to tell you what is actually wrong. There's a good chance it will come back.

As for changing your oil, that's actually the Maintenance Req'd Light, which comes on every 10k I believe. So, it's good that you changed your oil, but it won't take away the CEL.

security code should be in the glove box for the radio. and ditto going to auto zone or advance auto and getting the check engine code checked for free.

if his car went into limp mode then the CEL would be on and changing the oil would fix it. still good to have it scanned tho

somebody said you can also find the radio code on the underside of the engine bay fusebox lid....not sure if that's true or not though
