Re: hid problems

Sounds to me like you may have wired it wrong.

Also, I can't speak for the 04-05's, but in the 01-03 Civics you have one bulb for high and low beams in the stock setup. If you get a single HID bulb, you will lose you high beams unless you get a bi-xenon kit with a shroud that moves. If this is your case, and it appears to have a high beam all the time, then its because you tried to put a HID bulb in a halogen reflector housing, and you're getting mad glare. (glare is why HID kits are illegal in most states).

If you need help with a wiring harness, head on over to HIDplanet to their harness thread to learn how to do it correctly. If you're not comfortable making a harness, then there are plenty of people who will sell them to you on there. If you're getting glare, there is also info there on how to do HID the correct way, with a retrofit.

Re: hid problems

You definitely have it wire incorrectly. That's what happens with an H4...the wires are probably just backwards.

Re: hid problems

04-05 you would just need the low beam kit, shouldnt need the high beam kit.
I have the McCulloch HID 5500K Kit and it consists of 2 ballasts, wires, and 2 bulbs and its made for the reflector housing. IDK if you wired it wrong because most kits come with plugs that are designed so you can just Plug n' Play.

Re: hid problems

remember. you have THREE PINS.

one +12v, one Ground Lowbeam, and one Ground High beam...

ur +12v is constantly on while ur lowbeam/highbeam GROUND alternates.

Re: hid problems

^^^^^what he said. with an H4 bulb you CANNOT have both the high and low beam on at the same time without a specially designed relay harness. i hope you were smart enough to get a relay harness for this anyway, but if you try to run both high and low off the stock wires at the same time, you're sure to cause a fire eventually. at any rate, you will only be able to use either the low or the high beam at one time, but not both at the same time. also, our cars are ground switching. most of these H4 kits come wired for positive switching. this may be the case with yours. good, clear pics and wiring diagrams will tell for sure.

try ebay. you need a negative switching H4 bi-xenon relay harness. i doubt you'll find anything with that specific title, so you may have to do some work and send some messages asking questions. make sure they specify that the harness is negative or ground switching. if they say it doesn't matter, they're full of crap. also, look at your HID kit and make sure it's set up for ground switching. if you can't tell, take some pics of the wires and connectors (make sure they're clear, don't bother posting if they're blurry cause they won't help) and we'll get you figured out.
